The Dada Saheb Phalke Award is an annual award given to the Indian film personality by government of India for lifetime distinguished contribution to the development of Indian Cinema. It was instituted in 1969, to commemorate the birth centenary year of Dada Saheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema. The award for a particular year is given during the end of the following year along with the National Film Awards.
